Real Birth Knowledge

Empowering Caribbean Mothers with Evidence-Based Birth & Lactation Education

Lamaze classes, lactation support, and maternal advocacy for families in the U.S. Virgin Islands and beyond.

Too many women go into birth unprepared, unheard, and unsupported.

  • Led by a Registered Nurse who is an internationally Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator (LCCE), our classes go far beyond breathing techniques. We teach the physiology of labor, evidence-based comfort measures, partner support, medical decision-making, and hospital navigation so you understand what your body is doing and how to work with it. This is science-backed, real-world birth education designed specifically for families in the Virgin Islands.

  • As an RN, LCCE, and maternal health advocate, we prepare you for birth as it truly is, intense, unpredictable, and powerful. You will learn what labor actually feels like, what interventions may be offered, how to communicate with your care team, and how to stay grounded and confident whether your birth unfolds naturally, medically, or somewhere in between.

  • Through GOLD Lactation Academy training and Certified Lactation Support Provider (CLSP) education, we support the full transition into motherhood. From newborn feeding and latch to milk supply, recovery, and emotional adjustment, our guidance is evidence-based, compassionate, and centered on the reality that the birth of a baby is also the birth of a mother.

  • As a Registered Nurse and maternal health advocate serving USVI families, we help you understand your rights, your options, and your voice within the healthcare system. We teach you how to ask informed questions, give true informed consent, and advocate for respectful, culturally aware care for yourself and your baby in a system that often moves fast and does not always explain or listen.

Our Story

Real Birth Knowledge was born from a deep love for motherhood and a painful awareness that women in the Virgin Islands are not being given the birth experiences they deserve.

Long before becoming a nurse or a mother, birth fascinated me. I grew up watching A Birth Story, Call the Midwife, and devoured documentaries like Pregnant in America and The Business of Being Born. That passion became personal when I was pregnant with twins and told a cesarean was required. My body felt like it belonged to the system, not me.

After traveling off-island to give birth, working in our local hospital, and experiencing the gaps firsthand, I realized VI mothers were missing knowledge, support, advocacy, and choice. Real Birth Knowledge exists to fill that gap.

I became a Lamaze Educator and pursued GOLD Lactation training because mothers deserve confidence, respect, and support. My vision is for every woman to feel informed, calm, and empowered. At the same time, I work with doctors, nurses, birth workers, and local healthcare providers to create a full circle of care, so education, advocacy, and clinical support work together for every mother and baby.

Beyond individual mothers, I dream of a Virgin Islands where families experience empowered births, fewer unnecessary interventions, lower cesarean rates, stronger bonds, longer breastfeeding journeys, and healthier beginnings that ripple into lifelong outcomes. I believe the Virgin Islands can become a model for empowered, educated, family-centered maternity care.
